A word from our Chief Instructor on Tai Chi"Tai Chi has transformed me as a person. For years I struggled with tension in my shoulders; when I did other forms of exercise, I would work my way through using sheer strength. Tai Chi has augmented my fitness regiments and given me greater control over muscle tension and body awareness. Tai Chi has also improved my posture, balance, breathing, coordination, lower body strength, and ability to generate power in my Mantis Kung Fu. Tai Chi application and Push Hands has taught me to work on technique versus strength, how to relax my body through fluid movement, and to adapt and overcome. The principles and philosophy of Tai Chi have shown me that; as with life, you can often find more strength through yielding than with brute force. Tai Chi has even spilled over into other activities in my life; I often find relevance when out pursuing my passion for flying Hang-Gliders, observing nature, or in the stroke of a brush or pastel on canvas. Tai Chi is a treasure trove of knowledge just waiting to be unlocked by those who are interested. The deeper you go, the more you will find as you delve further and further into this art. I take great pleasure in studying Tai Chi and I have evolved to enjoy the application of Tai Chi and dissecting its original application. I hope that you, too, will enjoy our program and find your own path in Tai Chi." - Shifu Randy Brown |
