Children's Chinese Martial Arts ProgramWe want your child to excel in his/her martial arts training. In order to provide you the best training possible, we offer a positive, safe, and clean training environment with qualified Adult Instructors to work with your child. Your child should have fun doing martial arts but fun should not be the sole objective of the class. Our classes are structured, disciplined, and full of good ole fashioned exercise that will help keep your child physically fit, or assist them in reaching that goal.
Benefits to your child:
What will my child be learning? As your child enters the program they will learn to punch, block, fall, roll, and move. As they progress the complexity increases and the levels become more challenging. Your child will begin working with partners and building friendships from the first week of training. Classes are run with discipline and attention to detail, encouraging your child to stay focused, learn about values such as respect, humility, and etiquette while they gain important skills to help them well into their adult life. What is a good age for my child to learn Martial Arts?In our professional experience a child is ready for martial arts between 7 and 9 years old. Many children express interest prior to this age but all too often quit before they are at an age where they can absorb and really learn martial arts. As any good martial arts school (with your child's best interest in mind) will tell you, a child under the age of 9 is still developing fine motor skills, struggles with following more than three-step instructions, and has difficulty standing still and focusing on tasks. We feel it is better to wait a little longer and end up with positive results than enrolling them too early and regretting it. The exception to the rule, and how to prepare your child for martial arts earlyThere are exceptions to any rule and some children mature faster than others. You may apply to have your child tested under the age of 9 to see if they qualify for our program. If your child is not old enough (under 7) then we recommend enrolling them in a simple exercise program that builds motor function skills such as: swimming, dance, or gymnastics. For mental development we highly recommend your child study a musical instrument. |
