Is Fighting for Me?Fighting is what gives you the attributes listed at the top of the last page. It is the way we keep a realistic sense of our goals in martial arts and how we can handle ourselves if a situation did arise. At our Academy from the first day of class you begin to learn basic fighting principles. We take a unique approach to training you to fight by offering you a comfortable, safe environment to train that only increases intensity with appropriate skill level. Sink or Swim!?Learning to fight should not be sink or swim, or you being the crash test dummy for the school champion. If you've tried other Martial Art schools/systems then you know how this usually works - "Get your gloves, mouthpiece, cup (if you're lucky you have protective gear on). "Now get in there and fight!" Wham! Smack! Bang! OUCH!! and you didn't learn a thing except how hard someone can hit you, and how bad of a headache you have. Or you find the opposite with no contact or six inch rules that instill terrible habits and render you almost useless in an REAL fight. With the above approaches to martial arts training there is no methodical training method, nor can anyone tell you why you are getting hit, how not to get hit again, or teach you skills to make you better. Those who can take the pain are the only ones to survive the training and become somewhat proficient fighters. Anyone else gets left by the wayside and feels the reason they joined martial arts to begin with is unachievable, or 'just not for them'. Intensity with Skill. That type of training is non-productive and here at our Academy we work with you from the ground up building your skills to be proficient at defending yourself but only increasing the intensity with the appropriate skill level. Not everyone wants to be a professional fighter but many of us want the confidence, skills, and knowledge to take care of ourselves. ANYONE can learn to fight proficiently if they receive proper instruction!Contact us for more information |
